“Trance is all about the energies, their forms, states and their inevitable repercussions”

“Energy can neither be created, nor destroyed, it can only be transferred or changed from one form to another.” Trance is all about the energies, their forms, states and their inevitable repercussions.
So what is energy? Is God the energy? Is Drug the energy? Is God a Drug? Are all these the pages of the same book? The book called Life?
Pseudoscience, Spirituality and Godman worship has very strong market in India. It’s not something we haven’t seen, but what makes it interesting is – Even though it has the surface level outlook, it ‘tries’ to dig the dark side.
In the beginning, this has one of the finely executed montages of malayalam cinema – so intense, genuine and powerful.
Fahad Fassil – his enigma does give you adrenaline rush, I’m not lying. He ‘carries’ the movie by his own in most parts.
Amal Neerad’s pumping visuals with sharp colors, his typical slo-mo sequences – they were at their very best. The set design, the score and the sound – a proportional blend.
Unfortunately, the themes didn’t concur and failed to strike the crescendo. Anxiety, Depression and Drug Abuse are very sensual topics, if not handled seriously, the impact will fail to resonate.

I felt the uncertain point of view in narration in the second half was the big issue.
The editing department – which was very impressive in the first half failed to stitch the disjointed sequences later on.
I genuinely hoped for something fresh when it almost looked like the recreation of the ‘resurrection’.
On a completely different note, had this been conceived as a dark humor, it would’ve worked wonders.
